Dated: 26/06/2018 THE BAKE DISTRICT .. With the prolonged dry spell continuing during the current heatwave, many of the Lake District's rivers and lakes are starting to show the effects of very little rainfall. Pictured are walkers rambling over the dry river bed of the River Derwent, which has been reduced to all but a trickle of water due to the lack of rain. Today (TUES), the Met Office with Public Health England (PHE) issued the first government 'heat-health' alert of summer. The 'alert and readiness' advisory, which runs from tomorrow until Thursday, warns that parts of the country are likely to exceed safety thresholds. SEE COPY AND VIDEO FROM NORTH NEWS
