Kaoussar, 16, is a Sudanese refugee living in a camp in Ourang, eastern Chad. She fled Sudan with her grandmother and aunt in July 2023. After a short stay in a temporary camp, they have now moved to a permanent camp where she is very happy to be able to go to school set up by Plan International. A leader in her school and classroom, Kaoussar is always available to coordinate activities with and for her friends. But memories of her mother's death and her father's disappearance cast a long shadow over her, making it difficult for her to stay positive and move forward.
