Michael Stonier outside his home in Blythe Bridge, Stoke-on-Trent, with his Christmas lights display. December 3, 2024. A family has slammed 'Scrooge' housing bosses following complaints their Christmas display is keeping residents awake and causing LIGHT POLLUTION. Each year the Stonier family turn their home into a festive winter wonderland featuring 7,000 lights and inflatables in a tradition dating back 23 years. They say delighted children flock to see the display which covers their property in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs., after spending ??10,000 on it over the years. But Michael Stonier, 21, said he was left stunned when they got a letter from social housing bosses trying to impose restrictions on this year's lights. They said some neighbours had complained about light pollution causes by the display which was also stopping them from getting to sleep. Homes Plus Group told him they must be switched off by 10pm each night and even ordered him not to put them up too early.
