Keli Kryfko has come a long way in life. A painful moment in her past was all the push she needed to go from size 24 to competing in the Miss Texas pageant. Now, the Mesquite woman is hoping that her story can inspire others...Kryfko struggled with her weight in middle school. ¿I was over 200 pounds,¿ she recalled. But, at just 14 years old, she made an adult decision to change her life forever. ¿I had to take a fitness test in P.E. class, where I not only failed it, but I ended up getting a zero on it. I went to the locker room and, hoping on one would notice, I heard some girls saying, ¿Can you believe the fat girl couldn¿t do any of it?¿¿..That comment was the motivation that Kryfko needed. ¿I knew that that¿s not what I wanted my definition to be anymore,¿ she said...The very first thing she did was to swap Dr Pepper drinks for real peppers. ¿I started making some incremental changes,¿ Kryfko stated, ¿adding more water, adding in fruits and veggies, less fried foods.¿ And, with those small changes and the determination to keep going, she shed around 70 pounds in a year and a half, and more than 100 pounds total ¿ all without any medical procedures...Kryfko went on to win the Miss South Texas pageant and is now looking even further down the road.

Ashlie Hamlyn, was left stunned by the abusive messages she received from Steve Charlton, owner of Clarendon Estates, after she missed a viewing appointment, which she claims was because her car was gutted by fire. The 25-year-old, from Braunstone, Leicestershire, was due to view a property with the Leicester-based agents but missed it. A strongman family in Romania is poised to head to Britain for work as they have fallen on hard times in their homeland.nnGiuliano Stroe, now aged nine, and his seven-year-old brother Claudiu hit the headlines as they trained to be the world's strongest boys in a family dubbed 'The Hercules.'nnTheir father, 35-year-old Iulian Stroe, was determined to make them famous and put them through a gruelling two-hour regime each morning in Florence, Italy where his family lived. But his plans went awry and he was forced back to Romania. And he has now been reduced to making a living from scrap metal trading in the village of Icoana.nnHe hopes however that in the UK he will find either work or, even better, a sponsor for his boys. And if that works, then the boys and their mother will join him in the UK.nnLast week his son Giuliano posted on his Facebook page that his dad was planning a move to the UK so he could work - but he didn't want him to go. "Who will take care of us?" he asked. "Alone here is sad and dangerous. Help him to get a job near to us. Thank you."nnSome people posted kind replies, but others were more critical. Unfortunately Iulian says he has no choice but to wander to the UK, where there is an extensive network of Romanians in place that he hopes he will help him find work that will allow him to continue his sons' training regime.nnThe tiny muscle 'men' have been performing amazing acrobatic feats and lifting weights since they were toddlers. Giuliano has already broken two world records for 90-degree vertical pushups and another holding on to a pole like a human flag.nnClaudiu followed suit and he is already performing handstand push-ups on a bar and learning the same terrifying flag trick.nnBoth boys routinely lift 4kg dumbbells and heavy weights to work on their biceps and build up their chest muscles. Claudiu started training at a younger age than Giuliano and was copying his older brother at just 18 months old.nnNow he can do the splits between metal rings and can turn backflips along the ground.nnThe boys are undeniably capable of extraordinary feats - but it has been suggested that it's cruel to expect children of this age to train so hard. But both Iulian and his wife Ileana defend their training regimen for their boys.nn"They have a natural ability for this, nothing is forced, it is what God intended for them," said Ileana. "My husband will go abroad to earn money, as a builder or labourer, and we will use it all for our sons."nn(ends)

Two-year-old Springer Alfie was set upon when he raced away from owner Keren (corr) Northcott, 27, to try to mount a bitch. Before Keren could pull him away the female dog's owner begun whipping Alfie with a leash and booting him in the groin. Shocked Keren picked up her battered animal and raced him to a vet but staff said his testicles were so badly damaged Alfie will have to be castrated. Police are appealing for witnesses to the May 9 attack that took place at a nature reserve in Bodmin, Cornwall . Keren said she was walking Alfie with her daughter Kelsie when their cherished pet raced towards a white collie-cross bitch and her female owner. She said: "Alfie was beside me, when her dog came bouncing up to us. Alfie could sense she was on heat and they both ran off together. ìThe next thing I knew the woman was trying to separate them. She was yanking his collar really hard, lashing out with her lead and kicking my dog. ìHe spent a day in the vets on a drip, and his testicles were so badly injured he will have to be castrated now.
