According to the driver the lorry's brakes suddenly failed as they were crossing the bridge and the vehicle ended up smashing through the safety fence before coming to rest with the front half suspended in the air. The driver says: "We were scared to death and called firemen for help. The time of waiting was so killing to us. We feelt like we were waiting at the gate of the hell, so nervous." Luckily, firefighters were able to rescued the couple who were unharmed by their ordeal.

A family had a 'miraculous' escape after their home was struck by lightning ñ with the bolt blowing a hole in the roof and sending plumes of smoke through the property. Joanne Emberson and her two daughters were asleep in bed when the bolt hit the TV aerial on their Fenton home. The strike ripped plasterboard off Joanne's bedroom wall just inches from where she was sleeping. Her pet dog Jasper was also asleep in the room.

Mandatory Credit: Photo by HAP/Quirky China News/REX (3792156a) Pterosaur egg First complete pterosaur dinosaur eggs found in China - 06 Jun 2014 According to the famous scientific journal Current Biology on June 6, 2014, the world's largest and most well-preserved three-dimensional fossil cluster of pterosaur and its eggs were found in Hami, western China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The discovery was based on the field research of researcher Wang Youlin and his team of Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, over the past 10 years. The specimens are named Hamipterus tianshanensis. "Hami" refers to the region where the specimens were found.

Engineer Neil (34) and his bride Helen Melville-Kenney (36) took honeymooning in a hot location to next level when they decided to celebrate their new marriage by driving 3,000-miles from the UK to the real life 230-feet wide man-made crater. They drove in a Fiat Panda called Charlie. The man was forced to go to hospital after being unable to remove the ring that, he said, he put on out curiosity. Too ashamed to tell his family, he tried to keep his actions a secret but after 20 hours had to find help because his penis had swollen up and turned purple. Doctors were unable to remove the ring and had to call for the help of firefighters. They had to use a variety of tools to very carefully cut the ring off - a process that took two hours. One doctor said: "The stuck position is very sensitive, and we can't use normal saws or tools. We never had such incident before."

A cheeky prankster caused a stir in a Tesco supermarket after swapping wine labels with ones claiming bottles of plonk have ìagile CLAM flavours.î See SWNS story SWWINE; The self-styled vin-dal, known only as Id-iom, printed off five hilarious labels for different wines and stuck them on shelves at a London store, with taste guides like ìP Funkî and ìDancehall.î The labels were cleverly printed to look exactly the same as Tesco ones, and even include a barcode and information about Clubcard points. One of the labels, for a £4.09 bottle of Vineyards Soave reads: ìAgile clam flavours with a suspicion of red Kryptonite. ìGreat with roadkill or clam chowder.

Stacey, a PhD student at Bristol University, burst into tears after seeing the artwork before saying "yes".
