Undated file handout image issued by HS2 of the Birmingham and Fazeley viaduct, part of the proposed route for the HS2 high speed rail scheme. The HS2 high-speed rail line will provide a £15 billion a year boost to the UK economy, the Government will claim today as ministers attempted to bolster support for the scheme. PRESS ASSOCIATION Photo. Issue date: Wednesday September 11, 2013. Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin will claim new analysis shows that the proposed link between London and cities in the Midlands and northern England will drive growth in the regions. He will also claim the network's main benefit will be the increased capacity on offer, rather than the speed of services along the route, and insist that the project will be completed within its £42.6 billion budget. MPs on the Commons spending watchdog issued a scathing report on the scheme this week, which said the apparent benefits were dwindling as the costs spiralled. See PA story TRANSPORT HS2. Enterprise News and Pictures 12/9/13nPic shows: Rosie Kremer, 24,(right) who died in agony from an undiagnosed brain stem tumour six hours after giving birth by Caesarean section. Doctors insisted she had an inner ear infection despite her suffering in agony for two months up to her death on May 29 2012. She had lost two stone, had slurred speech, had started to lose coordination of her limbs and was violently sick. None of the 23 doctors that saw her in the last two months realised she was gravely ill and instead was told she had labyrinthitis. Her mother Lesley, 57, (left) from Penrith, Cumbroa, is suing North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust after learning that even an hour before her death Rosie could have made a full recovery if her condition had been correctly diagnosed and fluid had been drained from her brain. Rosie and Lesley are pictured in a photo posted by Lesley in tribute to her on her "open" Facebook page.nSee story...
