Emmerdale’s James Sutton is backing pal Craig Gazey to win the National Television Award for Most Popular Newcomer – if he doesn’t get it himself.
James, who plays mechanic Ryan Lamb in the ITV1 soap, said: “If not me, I’d quite like Craig Gazey to win. He plays Graeme in Coronation Street; he’s a very dear friend of mine, so obviously I’d be thrilled to bits if he won it.”
The 26-year-old said he wasn’t expecting to win himself but would “absolutely love to”, and was flattered his name was put forward.
“Just to be nominated is really good. I had a look online the other day and the calibre of people up against me is quite high as well. I’m not expecting to win.”
He added: “If people want to vote that would be really cool.”
Corrie star Craig has already won in the Best Newcomer category at the British Soap Awards and the Inside Soap Awards.
