I have installed Python 3.4.4 on XPSP3 and am trying to work my way through this tutorial. A Complete Tutorial on Ridge and Lasso Regression in Python http://www.analyticsvidhya.com/blog/2016/01/complete-tutorial-ridge-lasso-r… In Step 2 "Why Penalize the Magnitude of Coefficients?" we are shown this code: #Importing libraries. The same will be used throughout the article. import numpy as np import pandas as pd import random import matplotlib.pyplot as plt %matplotlib inline I get an error on the last line. I am running this code in Idle Python 3.4.4 Shell... Converting py files to .exe and .dmg

Hi there, I have done a lot of looking around online to find out how to convert Python files to .exe and .dmg files, but I am confused. Could someone provide pointers/advice as to how I can turn a Python file into a Windows .exe and Mac .dmg file. Thanks for any help.

Pickle file and send via socket

Hello friends Does anyone know if it's possible to pickle and un-pickle a file across a network socket. i.e: First host pickles a file object and writes the pickled file object to a client socket. Second host reads the pickled file object from the server socket and un-pickles it. Can anyone provide a simple code example of the client and server sides? Thanks

Strange terminal behavior after quitting Tkinter application

Hi, I'm puzzled by some strange behavior when my Python/Tkinter application quits (on linux): the terminal from which I started Python is messed up. If start up python, then import the code below, then start the program with Application(), then click the Quit button, my terminal never prints anything again (such as commands I type). <code> import Tkinter import sys class Application(Tkinter.Tk): def __init__(self,**config): Tkinter.Tk.__init__(self,**config) Tkinter.Button(self,text="Quit",command=self.quit_application).pack() def quit_application(self): sys.exit() </code> Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? There has been a lot of effort to make this group inclusive and newcomer-friendly. But it seems to me that this is not the case for the software itself. Given that Python ships with a rudimentary IDE (IDLE), should that one be promoted more intensively? Shouldn't IDLE be named something like "Python Editor" (or Python IDE/App) in the menu, so beginners can more easily find it? Further it might be a good idea to make this "Repair/Modify/Remove"-Dialog more explicit by clearly saying "Python is already installed. If you want to use it, do ...".

Is there a python library available that converts a type-annotated Python function into a webpage with HTML forms? Something like: def foo(name: str, times: int): return f"Hello {name}!" * times serve_from(foo, host="0.0.0.0", port=3000) Turning into a server that serves something like this: <form> <label for="name">name</label> <input type="text" id="name" name="name"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> And hitting the submit button executes the function. I'm aware I could use sls, and build a form manually, but that's extra work.
