The "return" of Orishas

Earlier this week it became known that the return of the group Orishas to the music scene will be a reality by 2024. In an interview for EFEYotuel Romero assured: "We will be back next year. We are preparing a new album. I am very happy to be back with Orishas".

To the news of the return, two years after announcing a separation for "not forcing something that no longer existed" among its members, another surprise is added: although all the members will be Cuban, only Yotuel will be among the founding artists. 

In 2021, also in an interview for EFEHe himself did not want to consider the pause in the group's work as definitive, saying: "only God knows if Orishas will return someday, in five, ten or fifteen years".

In his last statements, when referring to the replacements for Ruzzo Medina and Roldan Gonzalez, he only mentioned that they would be two Cubans, living in Spain and the United States, respectively. Although he did not mention names, there is speculation in social networks that the new members could be the rapper Hugo González, known as Doble 9, and the Madrid-based sonero Enyel Cuba.

Orishas' predecessor is the group Amenaza, which was born in the mid-nineties in Havana and evolved to become a successful group in Europe. The fact that they lived in different European cities did not prevent the trio of Yotuel, Ruzzo and Roldán from selling millions of records and even being nominated for Grammy and Latin Grammy awards for phonograms such as Emigrante (2002), The Kilo (2005) y Gourmet (2018). 

Its 2016 success Cuba Isla Bella marked the reunion of the group, after a first separation, and after five years of new songs and presentations, once again announced the breakup in 2021.

Several network users and followers of the band have stated that there will be no such "comeback" announced by Yotuel, if the contrast of voices and the unique blend of traditional Cuban music with hip hop and rap, a hallmark that only the original Orishas knew how to offer to their audience, are missing.
