Haven’t you noticed that today, the young generation easily give up on whatever struggles they are encountering? That they overthink the outcome of their actions and decisions?
It is also partly the fault of the parents and guardians of this generation, that we pledged to give them the pampered lives that we never had. That we stretch our threshold of patience before we give chores to our kids in our households. That whatever work that needs to be done, we do it ourselves (the parents) for as long as possible as we can carry on.
It is very noble to be able to offer to our children a nest that is comfortable and far from harm. But haven’t we thought on how they will fare in real life, when obstacles are real and most of the time cruel and unforgiving? That is why I have come up with the idea of a RICH KID BOOT CAMP. This is for kids, preferably during the summer, to be immersed in activities that give them responsibilities to do. Possibly, things that they ought to do to fend for themselves when they are living alone, with no one to take care of their needs.
Get my drift? Practical things like sewing, cooking simple stuff, when they get locked out of their house, or when they are in the midst of a stampede. Or things like woodworking wherein they could make their own simple chair or table. Or what to do when the plumbing or the toilet suddenly gets busted. Or when their bike suddenly gets a flat tire.
We ought to create a generation that has initiative, practicality and the ability to live by themselves without help from adults.
