The conductance data is used to evaluate 0&AK by making use of Fuoss –Kraus, Shedlovsky and Fuoss (1980) conductance equations. There is a reasonable agreement between 0&AK values obtained by Shedlovksy and FuossKraus techniques. But the values obtained by Fuoss (1980) equation are greater. Partial molar volumes are divided into ionic components using different methods such as Conway et al. and Jolicoeur et al. The results are compared with the values of partial molar volumes of 4 RN + ions reported in literature for pure water. Decrease in hydrophobic hydration is noticed. This may be due to the addition of co-solvent 2-(Ethoxy) ethanol (confirming the conclusions drawn from our viscosity studies that in 2-(Ethoxy) ethanol-water mixture, the structuredness of water is reduced by the breaking of hydrogen bonds). The 0 ion V values are divided into 0 stru V and 0 cage V. Making use of the Padova's equation 0 int r V values of 4 R NBr salts are calculated. These are also divided into ionic contributions. Dimensions of 4 RN + ions have been calculated to understand solvation behavior. It is shown that the classification of 4 R NBr salts into structure makers and structure breakers on the basis of the sign of 00 ion cryst VV − is not valid for the present water rich mixed solvent system.

Conductance behavior of Sodium, Potassium and Rubedium chlorides and Potassium bromide and iodide... more Conductance behavior of Sodium, Potassium and Rubedium chlorides and Potassium bromide and iodide in 10%(W/W) 2-(ethoxy) ethanol-water mixture has been studied at 30 o , 35 o and 40 o C. The equivalent conductance data have been analysed by making use of Fuoss-Kraus, Shedlovsky and Fuoss(1980) conductance equations to evaluate 0 and A K. There is a reasonable agreement between 0 and A K values obtained by Fuoss-Kraus and Sehdlovsky extrapolation techniques. But the values obtained by Fuoss (1980) equation are greater. An attempt is made to split 0 values of different electrolytes into ionic contribution. Different theories of ion-pair formation have been applied in order to evaluate the distance of closest approach. It is observed that all the theories exhibit their inability to predict the exact ion-association process. Walden products 0 0 are calculated to understand the solvation behavior. .
