THEY often appear as a human male with dark skin and golden eyes.
Nanook (Inuktitut: ᓇᓄᖅ nanoq), also known as the Ruin Author or The Blemished One, is an Aeon in Honkai: Star Rail representing the Path of Destruction. THEY are the leader of the Antimatter Legion.
Description[]
To correct this mistake and to clean up this tainted universe, Nanook became the avatar of entropy and ascended to godhood while denying all gods.
Destruction is not a process, but the outcome. On the path THEY promised, all Paths and Aeons will terminate in the heat death of the universe.
Profile[]
Witnessing the destruction of THEIR home world, Adlivun, as it was marred by the Swarm and the Mechanical Empire during THEIR birth, Nanook sees the creation of the universe as a mistake and seeks to destroy everything. After ascending to Aeonhood, Nanook allegedly ignited the Adlivun star system,[5] burning THEIR world to an "obsidian hellscape."[6]
Despite being the most recently ascended Aeon, Nanook and THEIR minions may already be considered the greatest menace in all the galaxy.[1]
Appearance[]
Nanook is depicted as a human male with long, white braided hair, brown skin, and golden eyes. A large gash along with multiple smaller wounds is seen on THEIR chest as golden ichor seeps out. On THEIR neck is a black choker with a golden clasp lining the fabric. A quarter of THEIR arms are separated into floating pieces to reveal glowing golden ichor inside, and THEY appear to be wearing black bandages with golden inscriptions that wrap around THEIR hands as makeshift fingerless gloves. Half of THEIR lower body, usually concealed with a long, torn black robe held up with a white sash tied with a golden ribbon, is golden flames and black smoke, indicating THEIR path of Destruction. THEY also have a silver ring on their left hand, placed on THEIR middle finger.
History[]
Nanook is the latest Aeon to ascend as of the beginning of the game, thereby also being the youngest active Aeon on the cosmos.
Swarm Disaster[]
Nanook ascended directly as a consequence of the Swarm Disaster[5] and the Emperor's War, as THEIR star system was marred by both catastrophes. It was destroyed, likely ignited by Nanook THEMSELF after THEIR ascension.[5]
Akivili visited Adlivun when it was still fighting with the descendants of the Imperator Insectorum.
Lord Ravagers[]
Lord Ravagers are Emanators of Destruction recruited by Nanook from the worlds they have destroyed. They are remade by Nanook in the Warforge, and each represent a different aspect of Destruction.[7] There are seven Lord Ravagers in total: Archforger, Asat Pramad, Celenova, Irontomb, Luxbane, Phantylia, and Zephyro.[8] A former Lord Ravager, Zulo, was defeated by the Galaxy Rangers and replaced by Celenova.[9]
Fetora[]
At some point, Nanook destroyed a White Star named Fetora. The flames of the White Star coalesced with the power of Destruction to give birth to plasmic lifeforms. The fire demon Ifrit, also known as Duke Inferno, was born from these flames and was obsessed with Destruction and slaughter since birth. The embers left behind from the star's destruction were clasped in Ifrit's hands, molded into the shape of Fetora's crown, and worn to this day.[10] Ifrit would later go on to lead the Ever-Flame Mansion, a subgroup of the Annihilation Gang.[11]
Trailblazer[]
During the Antimatter Legion's attack on Herta Space Station, when the Trailblazer protected March 7th from an attack by the Doomsday Beast, Nanook gazed at the Trailblazer.[12]
After Fu Xuan interrogated Kafka aboard the Xianzhou Luofu, Kafka revealed to the Trailblazer that they would eventually face Nanook in the best and the worst cases. When that time comes, the Trailblazer will need all the help they can get, and it will be a "brutal struggle of Aeonic proportions." In the vast majority of futures, that's when destiny ends, but if they follow Elio's plan, there may be a "glimmer of hope on the horizon." Kafka then suggested that even Aeons can be killed.[13]
Amphoreus[]
In the 50,121st Cycle of Amphoreus, the inorganic lifeform Chaoz666 committed the first act of "Destruction" throughout Amphoreus' cycles by choosing to kill the aggressor when subjected to a computational power takeover. At the end of that cycle, the Scepter δ-me13 received a gaze from Nanook and became a Lord Ravager that came to be known as Irontomb.[14]
At the end of the 33,550,336th eternal recurrence of the final cycle of Amphoreus, Phainon attempted to create a logical vulnerability in the "Worldbearing" path, which drew the gaze of Nanook. Before being defeated by Zephyro, and later merged by Irontomb, Phainon managed to briefly scratch Nanook's face with flames though it almost immediately healed.[15][16][17]
Simulated Universe[]
When Nanook appears in the Simulated Universe, the following sound will play:
Dev Log1[]
...Frankly, I still don't understand why Nanook the Destruction was born. Terminus the Finality was already traversing the universe before Nanook appeared. Is Destruction not included in Finality? We know so little about the secrets of the Paths. From the example of Xipe and Ena, we know that Paths with similar concepts can collide with each other, such as Order being included in Harmony resulting in Xipe absorbing Ena when the former ascended. It feels rather like survival of the fittest. However, there are examples of similar Paths co-existing for different lengths of time, such as Preservation with Remembrance and Abundance with Propagation. I guess perhaps our mortal conclusions about the Paths are still not at a high enough level. The true meaning of a Path cannot be completely expressed with just one word, or perhaps there are even deeper secrets regarding the Paths and the Aeons...
Dev Log2[]
...Nanook came from a star system called Adlivun, which has now been "destroyed." The birth of an Aeon was often accompanied by an anomaly that shook the universe, and Nanook had probably ignited their own home. I got some information from the Astral Express on how Adlivun used to be. It was a tragic world completely marred by the Emperor's War, and was unfortunate enough to be on the path of the Swarm's march. When Akivili arrived there, Adlivun was still fighting a tense and endless war with the remaining descendants of the Imperator Insectorum. What kind of an Aeon would such a planet create? It is therefore not hard to imagine its eventual fate...
