Hillary Rodham Clinton Award

The annual Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Advancing Women in Peace and Security honors women’s leadership at the highest levels and on the frontlines of peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding.

Shining a spotlight on the leaders advancing women’s roles in creating a more peaceful and secure world.

Presented annually by Hillary Rodham Clinton at Georgetown University, these awards recognize women’s leadership at the highest levels and on the frontlines of peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding.

Past winners have been the first female heads of state and young activists; they have stood up to authoritarian regimes and they have worked toward peace in the Middle East; they are fighting against gender apartheid and they are changing the world for the better.

As former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said, “in the midst of all this tumult, women … are standing up to human rights abuses, shining a bright light on corruption and taking on urgent challenges, often in the face of the cruelest, most violent resistance imaginable.”
