In text tool, pasting a Unicode "Symbol For Space" character causes characters to move leftward instead of rightward

Summary:

I have a text frame with three lines, each beginning with four real spaces then some text.

When I try to paste a Unicode "U+2420: Symbol For Space" () character before the first non-space text into a text frame,

  • On the second and third lines, the character pastes as expected and the text moves rightward.
  • On the first line, the character pastes as expected but the text moves leftward.
