Eraser Brakes After UI changes made.

Summary:

The Eraser Tool becomes broken if you make basic User Interface changes.
The Eraser becomes a Path Shape on a ".Root" Layer.

Steps to reproduce:

• open Inkscape As a New Default view with NO UI changes
• Draw a line using the Calligraphy Tool
• Use the Eraser and swipe through the line to cut it in half.
• This works as it should.
• Now make a UI change such as Open the Layers Dialogue or change the theme etc...
• Try to Erase part of the line, It will not work!

What happened?

• After making a UI change, the Eraser seems to become a Path Shape.
• It is automatically placed onto a ".root" Layer.
• The Eraser line can be edited with the Node Tool.

What should have happened?

• The Drawn line should be erased where the eraser tool touches it, then the eraser should disappear.
