Hassium

A WordPress block theme for software companies and startups, built on the Core Forms design system.

Hassium is element 108, first made in a lab in Darmstadt a few atoms at a time. The theme is for small teams who build that way. It opens on a hero with a soft brand glow and your product in a frame, sets headings in a quiet serif over a clean sans, and gives every section the pieces a product site needs: feature grids, a product tour, testimonials, pricing tables, a changelog, a roadmap, questions, and a closing call to action. The design lives in theme.json, the layout lives in patterns, and the theme ships no JavaScript of its own.

It is the third theme in the element series, after Osmium, which is built for reading, and Xenon, which is built for looking. Hassium is built for selling software.

Status: 0.1.0, in development.

Patterns speak one vocabulary, so every design restyles them.

• Colors: base, base-2, base-3, contrast, body, contrast-2, contrast-3, primary, primary-strong, primary-tint, primary-soft, night. The seven slugs Osmium and Xenon use keep their meaning here, so content moves between the themes.
• Font sizes: x-small, small, medium, lead, large, x-large, xx-large, xxx-large
• Spacing: 20 through 80
• Font families: inter, hedvig-letters-serif, mono

The theme is the theme/ directory. The repository root holds the license and this file.

To build a zip you can upload through the WordPress admin, run the build script from the repository root. It writes build/hassium-<version>.zip with a single hassium folder inside and checks the layout.

Every template is checked with axe-core against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rule sets plus best practices, at desktop and phone widths. Text sits at 4.5:1 or better and input borders at 3:1 or better in every design, including inside the dark band and the brand panel, measured by script.

Hassium's design is the Core Forms design system by Gaurav Tiwari. It bundles two typefaces under the SIL Open Font License, version 1.1.

Their license text ships beside the font files in theme/assets/fonts. The screenshots, photographs, and icons in theme/assets/images were made for Hassium and are released under the theme's license; the product, people, and companies in them are fictional.
