Some hosting providers will deploy MySQL feature releases, so we need to make sure where we stand regarding Textpattern compatibility. MySQL feature releases are not LTS release, so the uptake won't be as widespread. Features and/or changes in MySQL feature releases may be merged into the next LTS release of MySQL. This is currently expected to be MySQL 9.7. Based on release dates for 9.x feature releases, a GA release in mid-2026 could be on the cards.
I'll run some tests on MySQL feature releases as time & demand permits.
