Context & Feature Description
Continuous integration systems and security scanners standardizing on SARIF (Static Analysis Results Interchange Format) previously required custom wrapper scripts to convert mypy text or JSON reports. Adding native SARIF output capability allows mypy to integrate directly with automated code scanning pipelines such as GitHub Code Scanning.
Solution & Technical Changes
--sarifCLI flag tomypy/main.py.mypy/reports/that converts mypy type errors, locations, severity levels, and rule codes into a compliant SARIF v2.1.0 JSON schema structure.Testing & Verification
--sarifon sample codebases containing type errors and validated generated JSON against the official SARIF v2.1.0 schema specification.
