Launching a fresh download of 32 bit beta 9 for WIndows I can see the PDE window and load sketches but pressing the run button results in nothing, regardless of which sketch is loaded. No sketch window appears in the task bar. Run button is highlighted yellow and I can 'stop' the sketch by pressing the stop button but no visible application activity occurs. Inspecting the running processes in Task Manager shows an instance of java.exe being launched each time the sketch runs but not being terminated when the sketch stops. If I manually terminate the process from within Task manager I get the following error in the PDE window:

Could not run the sketch (Target VM failed to initialize).
Make sure that you haven't set the maximum available memory too high.

Have tried adjusting maximum memory up/down and off. Deleting the preferences file. Switching off anti-alisaing in the NVidia Control Panel and adding processing to the Firewall exceptions as well as downloading up to date video card drivers and java install.

I'm on Vista running on a Dell XPS with an Nvidia GEForce 8600 GT
