Call for Testers for CodeMirror 6 Migration! #4076
We’ve been working on a big migration of the text editor portion of the p5 web editor from Codemirror V5 to V6. The migration is basically complete, but we could really use everyone’s help in testing! We’re aiming to merge the big v6 branch into develop by the start of May so if anyone is able to help out with testing on this sandbox environment for the next couple of weeks, that would be greatly appreciated!
To be specific, here is what would be most helpful:
Using the testing environment as you usually would use the editor
Testing on mobile
Testing the preferences tab
If you find a bug or have a feature request, please open a new issue as a "bug" and note that it’s related to the codemirror v6 migration
We’ll triage the issues as they come in and add them to the mega-issue if anyone wants to pick up bugs to work on too!
Rather than assigning specific contributors to this issue, this thread is meant to be a space for any feedback or issues someone might've found in testing the CodeMirror 6 migration! Please feel free to go ahead with exploring the sandbox environment through some of suggested approaches above and let us know if anything comes up!
Hi @khanniie, spent some time testing the sandbox today on [Chrome + Windows] and [Android Chrome] for mobile.
Covered the regular editing flow (typing, autocomplete, find/replace, undo), the preferences tab (font size, theme switching, autosave), and ran a few sketches on mobile.
Found a couple of things, opened them as separate bug issues and noted they're related to the CM6 migration: #, #
I'll keep poking at it this week. Let me know if any specific area needs more coverage.
