This was an effort to keep the image as close to the original as possible (i.e. not upgrading to newer operating systems, etc). This was part of me troubleshooting #950, but I get the same errors with this as I do on up-to-date OSX on arm processors, so there's almost certainly room to bump this to a more modern OS. Potentially a more modern version of python (haven't tested that yet)
