Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • TypeScript files now load correctly when Node’s built-in TypeScript handling is set to strip, without requiring ts-node registration. Other cases retain the existing behavior.

Change: Feature

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to dae08

Applications with TypeScript configs using enums or similar syntax may fail to start. Preserve a transformation fallback or explicitly narrow the supported syntax before merging.

### Architecture Summary

Architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to dae08

The change affects 1 system.

Review details

Systems and components

  • observed — parser.js (service) was modified; 1 changed file maps to changed impact.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in parser.js: tsParser now avoids loading and registering ts-node when .ts is not registered but process.features.typescript is 'strip'; previously, the missing extension alone triggered registration.

In `@parser.js`:
- Line 90: Update the TypeScript loader condition in the parser.js require path
so Node’s strip mode does not prevent ts-node from handling configs that require
transformations, such as enums or tsconfig-based transforms. Retain a ts-node
fallback for those configs, or explicitly restrict and validate supported
TypeScript syntax before relying on Node’s strip mode.

This whole commit is just weird: dae08b3

If you edit a line in one commit and put it back, you still show up on the git blame, which complicates other people reasoning about potential bugs. I actually use annotations heavily to prevent regressions and aid in major refactors, particularly when the contributor is either no longer available or has forgotten why they did things. Muddying the water is permanent, and the only way to fix it is to decline it in the first place. So drop the commit so you don't have to then revert the changes in the substantive commit.

@jdmarshall Oh, I see. Let me see what I can do. Btw, github also has a repo setting to squash merge.

@jdmarshall Can you check again? I think the history should be gone now, with just the single, correct commit.
