Readers of the draft client concept guides previously saw elicitation and sampling described as direct server-to-client requests, with no mention of URL mode elicitation or of tools in sampling. These pages now walk through the tool-call retry flow for those interactions and cover the new URL elicitation mode and tool-capable sampling. The deprecated client features now carry warning callouts with suggested migrations.
Motivation and Context
This is part of preparing the client documentation for the 2026-07-28 protocol release. The draft guides still described server-initiated request flows that the spec has since replaced with the MRTR tool-call retry pattern, and they referenced removed features such as
logging/setLevelruntime adjustment and theroots/list_changednotification. New behavior like URL mode elicitation and tool-capable sampling was missing entirely, as were the deprecation notices from the draft changelog.Closes #3029
