Closes #13049

Gitpod pivoted to Ona: https://ona.com/stories/gitpod-is-now-ona

According to their pricing page, it doesn't seem like they have a free plan anymore: https://ona.com/pricing

They seem to offer some initial credits, but probably the plan becomes a paid plan after they are all used. Gitpod was initially added as an option to contribute to JupyterLab because of its free tier, and that was before GitHub Codespaces. But now that we also have support for GitHub Codespaces, maybe we should just put our effort on maintaining the dev container setup instead.

Code changes

  • Remove .gitpod.yml (probably it was not even picked up before already)
  • Remove mention of Gitpod in the docs
