In #6902 @edipofederle added bolding to some output from --help and other command line flags. Unfortunately it appears that the escape sequences for this are being emitted even when the output is not a TTY, messing up log files and also tests in jruby-maven-plugins that attempt to run jruby --help and match output.

We need to guard the use of these escape sequences and disable them when not targeting a TTY.
