The official name for Yosemite is OS X Yosemite: https://www.apple.com/osx/

The more general OS X description is here: https://www.apple.com/osx/what-is/

The OS X name has been used since Mountain Lion (10.8): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X_Mountain_Lion#History (first paragraph)

Does someone confuses "Mac OS" and "OS X"? Hard to believe in that and you can find more general description in wiki too - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS

Nobody confuses this, but at the end it's more correct.

and `brew install node` to install Node.js.

Linux/BSD users should use their appropriate package managers to install git and Node.js, or build from source
