Describe the bug
Every day I get an error in the log window, similar to this:
9:03:12 AM
Checking for updates...
9:03:12 AM
Error making request
Error: Get "[https://finicky.johnste.se/update-check?version=4.2.2":](https://finicky.johnste.se/update-check?version=4.2.2%22:) dial tcp: lookup finicky.johnste.se: no such host
Your configuration
MacOS, Finicky 4.2.2 (53414af, built 2025-10-03 10:16:57 UTC)
I get the same error every time Finicky 4.2.2 starts, so after every boot/login since I have Finicky set to start at login. Here is what I get when I run the suggest nslookup command:
Quick followup: when I close and restart Finicky directly, I do not get the error. So it seems like the error is tied to autostart at login. Very strange.
I just wanted to add on to this old issue that I've been running into the same:

Oh, hm, every day? That sounds annoying. TBH I'm not sure why the domain wouldn't resolve.
I would suggest either disabling update checks, or if you want to try and troubleshoot, it sounds like there's a DNS issue.
You could try running
nslookup finicky.johnste.sein your terminal to check if the domain resolves there, for example.znakebyte commentedon Mar 2, 2026
When I click the link, I get sent to: https://finicky.johnste.se/update-check?version=4.2.2%22:, so it seems to be some formatting error. I'm on MacOS using Safari as default browser.

How would you go about disabling update checks?
