The Financial Times, Monday 04 August 2025, Iran proposes slashing zeros from currency after decades of decline:

Iran has proposed cutting four zeros from the rial after decades of inflation and economic pain eroded the value of the currency.

The parliament’s economic committee approved the general outlines of a government bill to re-denominate the rial on Sunday. Shamseddin Hosseini, the head of the committee, said the new currency would still be known as the rial, with one unit equivalent to 10,000 rials in current terms.

From this repo’s description page:

  • If a territory’s currency should be replaced (e.g., ARL➝ARP➝ARA➝ARS), then the same marker will apply to the new currency. The marker would be updated to reflect its new ID: updated ID in documentation; updated filename; within the SVG updated id='…'.

When (I notice that) the new Iranian rial has a ISO 4217 currency code, these updates will happen. Likely candidates include IRT and IRN, but these are mere guesses.
