AWS is flagging the scale-up lambda as a recursive function. I can't tell without a detailed diagram of the interactions between lambda, SQS, S3, and other AWS elements whether the design is recursive.

I'm reviewing the AWS logs for termination events, and will continue to investigate. That said, if someone can provide a definitive answer on whether this lambda uses recursion intentionally, that would be much appreciated.
