Key Preliminary Research Findings:
A single-nucleotide mutation in the PDR1 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae resulted in significant downregulation of five genes (PDR5, ICT1, GRE2, TPO1, FMP43) according to transcriptome analysis. The PDR1 mutation also led to a significant decrease in both glucan and mannan content of the cell wall. Furthermore, the mutation altered the yeast's response to 2-phenylethanol, significantly enhancing its tolerance to this compound. Based on these, please help me design a National Natural Science Foundation of China project, including the project title, research content, and key scientific questions.
