Dark Reader has no effect on Thingiverse in Microsoft Edge #16111

Description

Prerequisites

  • I searched for any existing report about this bug to avoid opening a duplicate.
  • I can reproduce this bug in a new, unmodified web browser profile with Dark Reader installed as the only extension.
  • I understand I need to use the Broken Website Report template if this bug I am reporting occurs on a single website.

Bug Description

Dark Reader works correctly on other websites, but it has absolutely no effect on https://www.thingiverse.com/.

Website Address

https://www.thingiverse.com/

Steps To Reproduce

Open Thingiverse in Microsoft Edge.
Enable Dark Reader for the website.
Test all four generation modes: Dynamic, Filter, Filter+, and Static.
Open the custom CSS editor and try adding CSS rules.

Expected Behavior

Dark Reader should apply a dark theme to Thingiverse, as it does on other websites.

Actual Behavior

The website remains completely light, regardless of the selected generation mode. Custom CSS rules also appear to have no effect, even simple rules such as:

body {
background-color: red !important;
}

Operating System

Windows 11

Web Browser name and version

Microsoft Edge 155.0.4283.45

Dark Reader version

4.9.133

Additional Context

Dark Reader works normally on other websites in the same browser.
Disabling uBlock Origin for Thingiverse does not solve the issue.
Searching the DOM for darkreader in DevTools returns no results.
Applying document.body.style.backgroundColor = "red" directly in the DevTools console successfully changes the page background.
The website uses a light background color on the body, including background-color: var(--tv-bg-main).

This suggests that the issue may be related to Dark Reader's style injection or compatibility with Thingiverse's current page implementation.

Could you please investigate?

    Looking at your second screenshot, the site toggle button in the Dark Reader popup displays ✕ thingiverse.com instead of ✓ thingiverse.com.

    This indicates that Thingiverse was manually excluded/disabled in your local settings (either by clicking that button or by using the toggle shortcut Alt+Shift+A). When an origin is marked as excluded, Dark Reader disables style injection entirely, which is why changing generation modes or applying custom CSS rules has no effect.

    Clicking the ✕ thingiverse.com button in the popup to switch it back to ✓ thingiverse.com will re-enable Dark Reader on the site.

    Reference showing expected dark theme injection when enabled (✓ thingiverse.com):
