What?

Updates .github/PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md to match the templates now used in WordPress/gutenberg and WordPress/ai, and adds an AI tools disclosure section.

Why?

The current template is an older copy of the Gutenberg one. Since then, Gutenberg and the AI plugin have added a few sections that would help here too:

How?

  • Prefilled Closes # under What?, with a note to use See # or Part of #302 for PRs that shouldn't close an issue.
  • Added Testing Instructions for Keyboard (from Gutenberg) for UI changes.
  • Added a Before / After screenshot table.
  • Added a Use of AI Tools section, folded in <details>. The fields are left blank so nobody posts the example by mistake; the example sits inside the comment.
  • Linked the WordPress Coding Standards and Inline Documentation Standards, and added the PHPUnit command to the testing hint.

Testing Instructions

  1. Open the template on this branch and check that it renders correctly.
  2. After merge, open a new PR and check that the template is prefilled.
Use of AI Tools

AI assistance: Yes
Tool(s): Claude Code
Model(s): Claude Opus 5.5
Used for: Comparing the Gutenberg, AI and presence-api templates and drafting this one. I chose which sections to include and reviewed the final template.

Bring the template in line with WordPress/gutenberg and WordPress/ai:

- Prefill a "Closes #" line so PRs link their issue.
- Add keyboard testing instructions for UI changes.
- Add a before/after screenshot table.
- Add a "Use of AI Tools" disclosure section per the WordPress AI Guidelines.
- Link the coding and documentation standards, and show the PHPUnit command.
