Developer-tool visibility persists across sessions. Site panels remain mounted while switching tools. Tests cover panel drafts, visibility state, and hidden developer tools. ## Why The "Lint and typecheck" CI job runs `tools/check-node-engine-alignment.sh`, which fetches WordPress Core's `package.json` from `wordpress-develop/trunk` at run time and verifies that this repository declares the same `engines` values. WordPress Core raised its requirements to `node >=24.18.0` and `npm >=11.16.0` on September 8 (WordPress/wordpress-develop@62439bbb0a, "Build/Test Tools: Upgrade Node.js to 24.x."), so the check started failing on every PR. #4312 stopped the bleeding by pinning the check to a pre-upgrade Core revision. This PR resolves the misalignment itself: it adopts Core's Node 24 requirements and restores the live check. ## What - Bump `engines.node` to `>=24.18.0` and `engines.npm` to `>=11.16.0` in the root `package.json` and all package `package.json` files, and refresh the matching `engines` entries in `package-lock.json`. - Update `.nvmrc` from `22` to `24`. - Move every CI workflow pinned to Node 20 or 22 to Node 24, and raise the `prepare-playground` action's default from `20` to `24`. This is required, not cosmetic: `.npmrc` sets `engine-strict = true`, so `npm ci` fails under any Node below 24.18.0 once the engines are bumped. - The vendored WordPress bundles under `packages/playground/wordpress-builds/public/` are untouched; their theme `package.json` files belong to WordPress Core. ## Reverts the pinned Core revision from #4312 #4312 pinned `check-node-engine-alignment.sh` to a fixed Core revision so upstream upgrades cannot fail Playground CI. This PR restores the live `wordpress-develop/trunk` URL. The live fetch is intentional: a red check is the signal that Playground must adopt Core's new runtime requirements. This PR acts on that signal by adopting Node 24. ## Breaking changes Published `@php-wasm/*` and `@wp-playground/*` packages now declare `node >=24.18.0`. Downstream consumers (Telex, Studio, wp-env) installing with `engine-strict` or running Node below 24.18.0 will be affected. ## Testing - `bash tools/check-node-engine-alignment.sh` passes locally against Core's live values. - CI on this PR exercises the Node 24 workflow changes. <!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai --> ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Chores** - Updated the supported runtime to Node.js 24.18.0 or later and npm 11.16.0 or later across the project and its packages. - Standardized development, testing, publishing, and integration workflows on Node.js 24. - Updated the project’s default Node.js version to 24. - Released updated package versions where applicable. - Existing installations using older Node.js or npm versions will no longer meet the minimum requirements. <!-- end of auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai -->

Keeps New, Playgrounds, Site Settings, and Export visible in the Dock. A Dev Tools button beside Export shows or hides Blueprint, Database, Terminal, Files, Logs, and Email with a short width animation.
The Dock remembers your choice. Hiding tools preserves unsaved drafts. Opening a developer tool elsewhere reveals its button automatically.
Testing
Node compatibility
wp-env depends on Playground CLI. Raising Playground’s minimum Node version can therefore break wp-env users; it is not just a change to Playground’s development tools.
The engine check is pinned to the Core revision matching Playground’s existing requirements so an upstream Core upgrade does not block unrelated PRs. No package requirements are changed. Exact equality with Core’s minimum is not the compatibility goal: Playground CLI must work on the Node versions supported by its consumers. Any minimum-version increase should be coordinated with wp-env and tested through its Playground backend.
