Twenty Twenty turns the Cover template's fixed background off on touch devices with @supports ( -webkit-overflow-scrolling: touch ). That property is no longer matched by current iOS/iPadOS, so the fixed background stays on and the cover image is blown up.

This replaces the check with @media ( hover: none ), ( pointer: coarse ), which matches touch devices (including iPads) without relying on a WebKit-specific property. Desktop keeps the fixed background. style-rtl.css is updated to match.

Testing

  • Customizer: Theme Options > Cover Template > enable "Fixed Background Image".
  • View a page using the Cover Template on an iPad/iPhone (or a touch-emulated browser): the image should scroll normally and not be enlarged.
  • On desktop with a mouse, the background stays fixed.
