Participation Notifier: Campus Connect organizers should be automatically assigned their own badge instead of the WordCamp Organizer badge #2215
Per meta#8318, a new Campus Connect Organizer badge was created to recognize Campus Connect organizers. Discussion within that ticket has also requested automation of the badge's assignment.
Currently, by virtue of Campus Connect being powered by WordCamp, organizers already automatically receive the WordCamp Organizer badge. This is a bit misleading, and with the new, more relevant badge, both badges shouldn't be assigned for the same thing. Since WordCamp already fires the badge notification, it just needs to determine the context of the event and assign the appropriate organizer badge.
Considerations
Most obviously, when the notifier assembles the request to assign/remove an organizer badge, it needs added logic to determine which of the two organizer badges to assign/remove.
Less obviously, the notifier keeps track of how many times a user was assigned a badge, so that if a badge gets unassigned and the count of how many times they've earned the badge falls to 0, it knows when the user is no longer an organizer for any event and the organizer badge should get removed. This is tracked via a usermeta field whose key incorporates the event type. With a new organizer type, the two need to be tracked separately.
Also, since the WordCamp Organizer badge has been assigned to Campus Connect organizers already, and the latter hasn't been assigned to anyone yet, we'll need a migration script to correct badge assignments (assign Campus Connect Organizer, and remove WordCamp Organizer if they haven't organized an actual WordCamp) and to correct the cached counts.
