Two small fixes in the handbook source:

  • events/swag.md: the first line says WordCamp Central "will supply official lanyards when possible". The Swag page in the WordCamp Organizer Handbook now says that program is paused and asks organizers to print locally (see also the October 2024 post). The new text says the same and keeps the links to the source files and office supplies.
  • contribute.md: the "Video instructions to set up a WordPress.org account" link (learn.wordpress.org/tutorial/set-up-a-wordpress-org-account/) returns 404. It now points to the Learn lesson Creating a WordPress.org Account.

I checked every link in the handbook files on 25 October 2026; these were the only ones that needed a change (Trac and github.com/join answer 403 to scripts but work in a browser).

AI assistance: Yes. I used an AI assistant to help investigate and draft this; I ran and checked every test and result myself.

The WordCamp Organizer Handbook Swag page says the Community team paused shipping lanyards and swag, and asks organizers to print locally. The Learn tutorial link in contribute.md returns 404; the lesson Creating a WordPress.org Account replaces it.

The #sustainability Slack channel is archived, so asking here: @courtneyr-dev, could you take a look at this when you have time? It is two small fixes: the swag page still says WordCamp Central supplies lanyards, which is paused now, and one Learn link returns 404. Thank you!
