Part of #82938.

What?

Bumps this branch's pinned Node.js version in .nvmrc from 12 to 14, plus the two dependencies that need it: packages/env's nodegit (^0.26.2 → ^0.27.0) and root node-sass (4.13.1 → 4.14.1). package-lock.json is updated to match, including removing the nodegit-promise, promisify-node, request-promise-core and request-promise-native entries that only nodegit@0.26 needed.

Because the PR below this one made .nvmrc the single source of truth for every actions/setup-node step, the one-line .nvmrc change is all that is needed to move CI to Node 14 — no workflow file is touched here.

Why?

wp/5.5 and wp/5.6 are the only branches in this project's wp/5.1–wp/7.1 range still pinned to Node 12. Every sibling branch from wp/5.7 onward received a direct follow-up commit shortly after its own WordPress release moving to 14 (fixing either the same stale literal, or a floating lts/* reference left to drift on an already-frozen branch), a fix wp/5.5 never received.

Staying on Node 12 also blocks the Docker Compose v2 migration (#84999, directly above): every docker-compose npm release after 0.24.0 depends on yaml@2.x, which requires Node 14 and uses optional chaining (?.) that Node 12 can't parse. With this PR below it, #84999 uses trunk's ^0.24.3 range (0.24.8) instead of pinning 0.24.0.

Two devDependencies needed a version bump to get Node-14-compatible prebuilt binaries, verified against the real npm registry:

  • packages/env's nodegit (used only by packages/env/lib/download-source.js, which clones WordPress core into the local wp-env test environment; @wordpress/env is a development tool that WordPress 5.5 doesn't bundle) has no prebuilt binary for Node 14's ABI at 0.26.2, and its node-gyp source-build fallback fails under a modern Python 3. ^0.27.0 ships a Node-14 binary.
  • Root node-sass (used by bin/packages/build-worker.js and packages/react-native-editor/sass-transformer.js) has the same gap at 4.13.1. 4.14.1 ships a Node-14 binary; the only functional difference between the two releases is node-sass's own sass-graph dependency bump, not anything that touches Sass compilation output.

The failing checks fail the same way on the base PR, and pass at the top of this stack (#85016).
