What?
Changes the
wp-phpunit/wp-phpunitconstraint incomposer.jsonfrom^5.4to~5.9.0.composer.lockmoves from5.8.2to5.9.17. The lock's package set is otherwise unchanged; only thewp-phpunit/wp-phpunitentry andcontent-hashchange.Why?
^5.4resolves towp-phpunit/wp-phpunit5.8.2, a copy of WordPress 5.8's test bootstrap. That bootstrap rejects any PHPUnit newer than 7.x (only compatible with PHPUnit up to 7.x). The PHP7.4,8.0and8.1legs of theunit-phpmatrix get PHPUnit 8.x or 9.x, so they stop at startup before running any test.wp-phpunit/wp-phpunit5.9.xdrops that upper limit and relies onyoast/phpunit-polyfills, which this branch already requires. It also sends fixtures through the Polyfills'set_up()/tear_down()methods. #84414, directly above this PR, renames the test classes' fixture methods to match and depends on this change. Pinning to~5.9.0matches the WordPress version this branch tests against, instead of picking up the newest5.xrelease.Upstream
