What?
Removes the
mobile-unit-jsjob (job nameMobile) from.github/workflows/unit-test.yml.The job runs the React Native editor's JavaScript unit tests —
npm run native test, which resolves tonpm run --prefix packages/react-native-editor test, i.e. Jest againsttest/native/jest.config.js.Why?
This job currently runs and passes on
wp/6.1. It is not disabled and it is not broken — it is being removed for scope and consistency, not to fix a failure. (Note for anyone comparing with the equivalentwp/7.0andwp/6.9PRs: on those branches the job is permanently disabled viaif: falsebecause React 19 broke the tests. That is not the situation here; onwp/6.1the job still carries the ordinaryif: ${{ github.repository == 'WordPress/gutenberg' || github.event_name == 'pull_request' }}condition.)The reason is React Native cleanup. React Native mobile support is no longer maintained or shipped as part of Gutenberg, and the first PR in this stack already removed the React Native workflows (
rnmobile-ios-runner.yml,rnmobile-android-runner.yml) from this branch as not belonging on a frozen release branch. This job is the last remaining piece of that test surface still running in CI onwp/6.1, and keeping it means every run of the required Unit Tests workflow spends a runner building and exercising code that this branch will never ship an update for.Nothing else in the workflow referenced the job — there are no
