wp/6.2 branch Actions: remove the mobile-unit-js jobwp/6.2 branch Actions: Remove the mobile-unit-js job
Part of #82931.
What?
Removes the
mobile-unit-jsjob (displayed in CI asMobile) from.github/workflows/unit-test.yml.That job runs
npm run native test, which resolves tonpm run --prefix packages/react-native-editor test— the React Native editor package's own Jest suite, run againsttest/native/jest.config.js. In other words, it is the React Native mobile JavaScript unit test run.Nothing else in the workflow referred to it: no
needs:entry namedmobile-unit-js, and no job producedoutputs:that existed only to feed it. Removing the job block is the entire change — the remaining jobs (unit-js,test-php,phpcs, and the deprecatedunit-phpaggregator, which only needstest-phpandphpcs) are untouched. Why?
This is the last piece of React Native mobile CI left on this branch.
The bottom of this stack already removed the other React Native workflows —
rnmobile-ios-runner.yml,rnmobile-android-runner.yml, andgradle-wrapper-validation.yml— on the grounds that React Native mobile support is no longer maintained or shipped by Gutenberg, so CI dedicated to exercising it serves no purpose on a frozenwp/6.2maintenance branch. Themobile-unit-jsjob is the same category of work: it tests the React Native editor, just at the unit level and on a Linux runner rather than through the native iOS/Android runners. Leaving it behind means this branch still spends CI time on mobile code it no longer maintains, which is exactly the surface that cleanup set out to retire.Use of AI Tools
