If we go with this approach we should probably move these styles to the table layout styles, right?

These styles are only affecting the following state: when the consumer uses the <ItemActions> component to render both the all actions button + the primary actions left to it. In all those cases we'd want this padding. It just happens that the only that uses this config is the table one.

<ItemActions isCompact />(does not render primary actions) - activity:
<ItemActions isCompact />(does not render primary actions). This layout renders primary actions separately that are unaffected by this change. - list: renders actions on its own, to control keyboard interactions.

@jameskoster sure, I can add that. What would be the todo? Migrate to the new Button (wordpress/ui package) and use the unstyled variant? FWIW, I tried that as an alternative but I ran into issues (don't remember which). I also don't think it's great to use button from ui in some places and button from components in other places — hence, this approach for 7.0. |

Agreed. I'd love to update DataViews to consume new DS tooling for 7.1 though. |

There was a conflict while trying to cherry-pick the commit to the wp/7.0 branch. Please resolve the conflict manually and create a PR to the wp/7.0 branch. PRs to wp/7.0 are similar to PRs to trunk, but you should base your PR on the wp/7.0 branch instead of trunk. |
