Support for Responsive control for Custom Css section #80333
Adding Responsive controls was the right move. People have asked this for years. But the Custom CSS option that was added in the latest 7.0 still has no responsive controls. And even more, it doesn't support media queries, so practically it's not usable because there is no modern site now that doesn't have a responsive design. If WordPress want survive in AI era, this option must be added, otherwise, it will be not possible to build any modern site with agentic workflows natively in Wordpress without extra tools
Thanks for pushing for this, @wpsoul! Per-viewport custom CSS landed in #83539 (merged 2026-10-12). With responsive editing on, a block's Additional CSS can now be set separately for Tablet and Mobile. I checked on WordPress 7.1.2 with Gutenberg trunk (built 2026-10-16), and it is output inside the matching viewport media query on the front end. Thank you too, @shail-mehta, for #81591. It covers the same ground as #83539, so I'm closing it along with this issue. Writing your own @media queries inside the Custom CSS field is tracked separately in #76728. Closing as completed. Feel free to reopen if something is still missing once you've tried the latest Gutenberg.

This should be unblocked by #78437, which adds
