What problem does this address?

The UI a11y message is long and tedious and can be shortened. It's also not quite correct, using the wrong label for a feature.

The current menu options offer reduced accessibility for users and are not recommended. Enabling either "Open on Click" or "Show arrow" offers enhanced accessibility by allowing keyboard users to browse submenus selectively.

  • The first part is passive and indirect. “Offer reduced” feels indirect. Users don’t experience reduced accessibility, they have limited access.
  • "Open on click" is not a label used in the UI.
  • “are not recommended”. Passive and vague.
  • “offers enhanced accessibility”. Generic marketing language.

What is your proposed solution?

The copy could be this instead, which I believe is an improvement:

The current menu settings reduce accessibility. Enable “Click” or “Show arrow” to improve keyboard navigation and allow users to browse submenus selectively.

This setting limits keyboard access to submenus. Enable “Click” or “Show arrow” to allow keyboard navigation.

These menu settings limit accessibility. Turn on “Click” or “Show arrow” to support keyboard navigation and selective submenu access.
