What problem does this address?

The option to rename and delete pattern categories was previously implemented in PR #55035 (related to Issue #54699 ). However, this functionality is currently missing from the interface.

At present, one of the simplest ways to manage these categories is by manually accessing the URL wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=wp_pattern_category, but this is not a practical solution as it's not discoverable for the vast majority of users.

What is your proposed solution?

Reimplement the dropdown menu within the Patterns interface in the Site Editor, restoring the functionality that was previously available.
