Why

The README still describes a Core-only app. Since 1.2, a site can also be a Gutenberg checkout, and the future-work list still lists things that already shipped.

What changes

  • E2E badge next to Unit tests, on trunk.
  • Intro and "What you can do" name Gutenberg sites, GitHub issues and WordPress/gutenberg as a PR target; Trac attachments and .diff/.patch files are marked as Core only. The intro link points to the 1.2 post.
  • Contributing lists the end-to-end journeys among the checks on every PR.
  • Ideas and future work: dropped the bundled Git item (The app ships the Git it runs on #364, closed 9 Sep), narrowed the Git UI item to conflict resolution (branches, commits and pushes already exist), added internationalization.

Deliberately not changed: the hero screenshot (still a Core site) and AGENTS.md's project description, which is also Core-only.

How to test this

Platforms: any (docs only).

  1. Open the README on this branch on GitHub.
  2. Check both badges render and the E2E one links to the E2E workflow.
  3. Follow the new links: the 1.2 post and the gutenberg-issues guide page.

What must not have happened: no guide link changed target except the intro one.

Risks and limitations

The E2E badge shows red whenever a trunk E2E run fails.

…rent future work

The intro and feature list described a Core-only app. Name Gutenberg sites, GitHub issues and the Gutenberg PR target, point the intro link at the 1.2 post, add an E2E badge next to the unit tests one, and list the E2E journeys among the PR checks. In future work, drop the bundled Git item (#364, done), narrow the Git UI item to conflict resolution, and add internationalization.
