What happened?
When running the FAST PlugIn installer from here , I get a dialog with an external exception 80000004 . This seems to be some problem with AMD CPUs and virtualization that has been fixed for KVM but not for Virtualbox, see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219787#c22 . Further research shows that this error should also occur with other applications.
I tried to search for the exception code 80000004 but got no results for Virtualbox, only for KVM as mentioned. Sorry if I overlooked anything.
Windows 11-2025-11-20-05-52-11.log
How can we reproduce this?
- Use a Windows VM (I assume any version would do) on an AMD host system (I have a AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX 16-Core Processor)
- Download any FAST Plugin from
. The download only shows if you use a browser on Windows. I tried the compressor but also other.
- Start the installation.
- Notice the dialog mentioned above.
Did you upload all of your necessary log files, screenshots, etc.?
