What happened?

After updating the host to VirtualBox 7.2.0, the emulated TPM 2.0 does not work in VMs anymore.

On guest boot, systemd shows:

A start job is running for /dev/tmprm0

After 1min 30s, it times out and continues.

systemd-analyze has-tpm2 in the guest shows:

  +libtss2-rc.so.0
  +libtss2-mu.so.0

Journal shows:

tpm_tis MSFT0101:00: probe with driver tpm_tis failed with error -12

How can we reproduce this?

Host packages:

• virtualbox 7.2.0-1
• virtualbox-host-modules-arch 7.2.0-1

Guest packages:

• linux 6.16.1.arch1-1
• virtualbox-guest-utils 7.2.0-1

Enable TPM 2.0 in guest settings and boot.
