Hi @jhoddino! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the Stirling-PDF team.

The OCR upload options in Stirling-PDF are intentionally hidden if the backend can't find Tesseract or any valid language packs in the tessdata directory—this is a failsafe, not a bug. On Ubuntu, make sure you have at least one .traineddata file (like eng.traineddata) in /usr/share/tessdata and that there are no extra files or folders (such as scripts or configs) in that directory—only .traineddata files should be present. You can check installed languages with:

dpkg-query -W tesseract-ocr- | sed 's/tesseract-ocr-//g'

If you recently installed or changed language packs, restart Stirling-PDF. If the UI still doesn't show upload options, try a hard refresh or open the app in a private browser window to rule out cache issues. Also, check the browser console and network tab for errors (look for calls to /api/misc/ocrLangs) and review server logs for any OCR-related errors. Where did you put your language files?
Also for ease I highly recommend docker installs

Thanks for the reply. I have no /usr/share/tessdata folder just a /usr/share/tesseract-ocr/5/tessdata folder
Within this I see all the language packs that I installed (as mentioned I worked off that official doc you linked.) The similar issues discussed pertain to Docker and Windows.

Any other options I can do to get this working? I love this tool and the OCR piece would be the part that would drive more people in my company to use it.
