moving the beam electrons back all the way to the edge of the world volume, they are very unlikely to interact with all that air and it allows us to copy the positron values into the configuration with ease. If this proves to be an issue, we can track more of the steps in the simulation to find out the position and direction immediately upstream of the first detector component but I'm not doing that right now.

Thank you @bryngemark for pointing this out to me. My initial tests using the current configuration and the gyroradius calculation were getting close but not perfect. I will validate these changes and upload the validation plots and the config I used here for future reference.

Alright, I cleaned up my work area and validated that these new generator configurations indeed shoot the electron beam directly into the center of the target with minimal $p_x$ and $p_y$ even accounting for the material between upstream and the target itself. The testing files I used including the config scripts and plotting notebook are attached.

Note: You cannot see a trunk version of the 1.2GeV beam on the plot below because none of the 10k events I simulated reach the target. They are all bent into the magnet and away from LDMX. As you can see, I have corrected this with the new generator configuration with the worst case scenario: somehow a 1.2GeV electron enters the experimental area and just the right angle and position to end up centered on the target.

Looks good to me. Should there be a positron beam function or is this just overkill?
