I really like this book, but I thought the higher order initial example was too simple to the point of being uninteresting... so I thought I would bring lists into the picture --- and list processing.
I didn't get a chance to work this in, but perhaps the pitch for functional techniques could be "look, once we define
mapwe don't need to write for loops anymore when we want to process lists elementwise...
